Arctic Risks and Hazards Research Working Group
A USARC-Coordinated Working Group
Coming Soon
The Arctic Risks and Hazards Research Working Group (ARHRWG; in formation) is being created to advance interdisciplinary research, monitoring, and knowledge exchange on Arctic hazards and risks arising from environmental, technological, and socio-economic change. The current group charge is focused on storm surge in the Alaskan Arctic. Storm surge research focuses on improving forecasting, risk assessment, and understanding its impacts by studying its physical drivers, developing advanced modeling techniques, using AI and high-resolution data for risk mapping, and investigating the influence of factors like sea level rise and shape and features of coastlines/coastline dynamics.
