Dr. Larry Mayer, USARC Commissioner, Elected to National Academy of Engineering
Commissioner Mayer has been elected to the venerable National Academy of Engineering (NAE) for developing techniques and technologies in coastal, Arctic, and ocean floor mapping. Among the highest of professional acknowledgments, NAE’s election recognizes Dr. Mayer’s considerable accomplishments throughout a broad-based career and current tenure at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), Durham, where he serves as founding director of the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping and co-director of the NOAA/UNH Joint Hydrographic Center. Mayer is the first person from the UNH to be elected to any entity chartered under the National Academy of Sciences (including sciences, engineering, and medicine).
