Nunavik Resident Demands Action From Leaders on Suicide Crisis. I am totally frustrated, because there have been two suicides last week in my hometown of Salluit. The leaders at the Makivik's annual general meeting held last March in Kuujjuaraapik were all worked up talking about suicides. From the Dutch Willem Barentsz, to the Danish Vitus Bering, to the British William Baffin, the seas and shores of the Arctic are strewn with the names of Europeans drawn north by the lure of trade and riches.
